Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society (MATS) was born in 1909 when a group of like minded people saw the opportunity of setting up a theatrical group that would not only benefit the town but also bring pleasure to many people by providing locally produced entertainment.
In 2009 we celebrated 100 years of bringing quality entertainment to our community with the musical extravaganza "Show of the Century" and a Jubilee dinner, attracting past and present members and supporters from far and wide. Now in our second century, we continue to strive to share the vision of our founding members.
Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society is an Incorporated Society, a registered charity and is administered by a Committee of members elected at the Annual General Meeting.
